Our history

Until the early 1990s, the Maritime Lines in the Dominican Republic directly managed the billing and collection of container and chassis usage. However, given the associated challenges, where containers would often sit on the road for an average of 75 days and in some scenarios not be returned, they were forced to add a fee (Non-refundable); on the bill of lading (BL) of $700 per container, as a way to recover part of their costs.

The National Importers grouped in the different Associations requested through the Association of Shipowners of the Dominican Republic (ANRD) their intervention with the Maritime Lines in order to find a solution to the situation, considering that these costs significantly increased the price of the goods. imported and requested the establishment of a system that would allow fair payment for the use of the equipment.

Consequently, the Maritime Lines requested the creation of a program that could guarantee billing and collection of Delay and Detention for the use of their equipment, so they decided to subcontract this service through "Despachos Portuarios Hispaniola" (DPH). As of April 1, 1993, DPH was born with the support of the most important Maritime Lines with a presence at that time in the Dominican Republic and with the support of the Shipping Association of the Dominican Republic (ANRD) and the Import and Export Sector.

Over time, DPH has influenced the creation of greater awareness in the use of equipment by users and the establishment of greater control over them by their owners.
